Range Rover

I've got a wedding to attend to coming up this summer and I wanted to bring a camera to capture casual photos during the event. My goal was to not bring any camera that was too cumbersome or over the top (no SLR's at all) so I figured a 35mm point and shoot would be ideal.

My current point and shoot I owned was a Minolta Hi-Matic AF2. Although it's served me well in the past, I wanted to opt for something smaller in form factor that I can tuck away easily in my pocket. In an ideal world, sure let's go ahead and grab a Contax T2/Yashica T4/Nikon 35TI/Fuji Klasse (or whatever other high end POS ranging in the thousands exist).

My brother had great experience with some of his current point and shoot options, like the Olympus Stylus. But I had been actually looking at something else, a rangefinder in compact form.

Meet the Olympus XA (snagged off eBay for a cool $66, sadly the flash attachment does not work but we can replace that). I was hyped to grab this for the price, even though it was quite the gamble considering it was listed as untested.

Anyways, I got back my first test roll since acquiring this compact complexity. Happy with some, not so much with the others. But it's part of the learning curve of knowing how to operate a Rangefinder for the first time. Officially added to the arsenal. I think we're officially ready to attend this wedding.

(Shot with Cinestill 400D)

First shot of the roll. Light leaks? idk but it turned out cool with this red flare

Extra light haze on this harsh sunny light.

More flaring. Is this the halation they speak of?

Wish this was in focus. Again, learning the ropes with the rangefinder process
